Title: Senior Appraiser
VPA Office: Valbridge Property Advisors | Greater Hartford
Employee background:
I have been appraising and consulting on commercial properties since receiving my master’s degree in 1992 from New York University. My career has taken me all over the country, initially working in Price Waterhouse’s and then Deloitte’s consulting practices in the 1990s. I have valued almost every type of real estate asset across the U.S. Loan workouts dominated the early part of my career, while securitization work with large investment banks dominated the latter part of the 90s. After that, I managed the real estate portfolio valuation for Credit Suisse First Boston. My career verged away from real estate for a few years at CSFB, when I managed a global projects group, traveling extensively between Europe and the U.S. After leaving CSFB in 2004, I went back to appraising and have been at it ever since and have been at Valbridge since 2015.
What is your title and what do you do at Valbridge?
I appraise various commercial properties in Connecticut and upstate New York. Primarily my focus is the southwestern part of CT (Fairfield County).
How did you become a part of Valbridge?
I started with Valbridge in 2015 – it was just the right opportunity at the right time for me.
What are your specialty areas?
Just about anything. Typically, my workload includes office, retail, multi-family, and industrial, but I’ve tackled golf courses, yacht clubs, and large-scale developments/redevelopments over the years. You name it, I’ve probably seen it!
What are some of the most interesting projects you've worked on at Valbridge?
Local restaurant/inn that has one of the most creative owners I’ve come across. He’s managed to develop and capture a niche market – not the easiest thing to appraise, but definitely interesting.
What do you like most about working at Valbridge?
Work/life balance. As a working mom, I find the structure of working at Valbridge to be ideal. Working on a variety of properties, through all kinds of conditions, keeps life interesting too!
Additional information:
My husband and I live a busy life with our 15-year-old boy/girl twins and our chocolate lab. We are avid skiers and spend much of our winters on the slopes in Vermont. We love traveling, hiking, biking, and trying to live a healthy and happy life! Work/life balance plays an important role in achieving this.
